Position refers to the betting order when you are playing a game of poker. When you act last, there are certain advantages since you get to see what other players do before making any decision. Position is critical if you want to be profitable in poker. Playing out of position spells disaster according to experts of the game.

The best position is at the dealer button. The player on this spot acts last after flop, the turn, and the river. The player here is able to see what the opponents will do and then see if he or she should call, raise, or fold. In cases the player on the dealer button folds before the flop, the players on later position will have the advantage of taking action last.

Remember though that the best hand regardless of position is still supreme to a good position. When you play from a good position, you lose lesser chips if you behind for a certain hand and rake in more when you act ahead.

Another advantage of having a good position is when all players miss the flop. This gives you the opportunity to steal the pot as everyone will have the tendency to check. In case the scenarios Is not favorable, then check and bet out later if the opponents check on you again.

The closer you are to the dealer button, the absolute your position post flop but you should be aware of the position of the pre-flop raiser. Depending on your relative position from the other players or when you are sandwiched between the raiser and other opponents, you must be very careful when betting if you are acting after the flop. You need a strong hold to be on the advantage.

Ideally you want be in a position to act after your opponents. Good position allows you to win the most if you are acting ahead and lose minimally when behind.

When you chicken out, you may end up not filling a flush. Somehow it is crucial to have that ability to lose in order to win in poker.

Most of the time when you think you are in trouble, the other players think they are also in trouble. Trouble situations in poker are actually opportunities to make some money. You will not win by just playing the no-brainer winnable cards. What you need to do is push your opponents to the edge and make their trouble situations more troublesome. And of course, make sure you are in less trouble.

You may often lose some hands but not realizing the possible positive outcome of your cards. You often do not take the risk and play them because you really do not know where you are in the game. When you get a AQ or QQ during a loose game of holdem then you are in a lot of trouble if you just fix your thoughts on the weakness of the cards. You should consider that the other players who may have suited 2-4 or off suit 7-5 is in deeper trouble.

Always take into consideration that trouble can make you some money.  You need to master handling troublesome situation. Great players can squeeze out some money from the other players during tough poker situations

In Texas holdem for example, you can get some pot equity when everyone is in a trouble situation. When the flop does not help anyone, the one with no pair is in trouble and so is the one who will be playing last. Those who are on the blinds are in deep trouble.  Now the best players will make most out of this mess.

Consider trouble as your winning opportunity as long as you are in lesser trouble compared to the other players around the poker table.

Making right the right choices during a game of poker is crucial to taking home some chips. What do you do when you make a continuation bet and your opponent calls it? You might be facing an awkward situation and one option is to double barrel.

Double barreling is quit difficult to learn and master. What you do is fire another barrel or make another bet on the turn after your opponent calls your continuation bet.

You have to remember some basics so you don’t end up crying after the game if you plan on trying to double barrel:

Don’t double barrel a calling station

It could be fun throwing money at someone but you need to remember that it will not be productive if you try to bluff someone who rarely folds his card. Double barrel a calling station and say goodbye to your bankroll.

Reads as always are essential

It will be very helpful if you know that your opponent folds when he doesn’t have good cards and it is also very useful when you know that someone loves showdowns with every deal you get. The more you know about your opponent the easier it is to know if its good to double barrel.

Check your equity before double barreling

This simply means don’t force a double barrel if you do not have some chance of grabbing the chips for the hand. Like in other bluffing scenarios, having some equity is always better.

Fire a second barrel when your opponent is scared of the turn card

When you get an over card for the flop, this might be the best situation to double barrel. These cards may hit our range and has a higher chance that you u hold better cards than your opponent. If the turn is a scare card for your opponent then they will be a lot happier to fold and just save their chips when you fire a barrel. This is one sight that I never, ever thought that I would see.  While poker is definitely a serious game, Paris Hilton is not a serious person.  She is all about partying and having fun and poker is not all that fun … unless you are winning and heck, in this game she might be winning.
